I'm confused about clubs.

Whenever I've changed my hobby car I've always joined the relevant owners' club - Rover P6 Club & Sports Register, Wolseley Register, JDC & JEC - and I'm a Mercedes Owner of 3 weeks' standing. This is honestly not meant to be a wind-up, but the urls and titles etc seem to show that this is separate and different from The Mercedes-Benz Owners Club. Is there any friction between the groups and, as I can only afford to join one (I'm on a TIGHT budget), is this the one for me?

I run my own forum, so I know all about trolls, but this is a genuine question.

The most expensive thing about this forum is owning a mercedes and as for the other crew, we normally have a fight about once a month, and you can normally spot em ..all decendants of adolf ..they generally only have one spherical object and some none atall..

Hello John. This forum is rather different to one say that caters for classics, in that we have many that join to solve a problem and then do not post again until the next fault.

My finding on "The official Mercedes-Benz Club" is that there are problems on the forum side, though it caters for the older cars there is no one that can answer problems on the newer models. The forum side also has the problem that the best guys that know the faults on the older cars will not use the forum. I had one hell of a job posting there, as the old timers hated anyone new, that knew more than them.

This site is nice, it is not clicky with groups that answer like sheep, we have some very good techies with a good following of regular members.

So far the guys on this site have been extremly helpful (especially Television)
i have today sent in my bank details in order to set up my subscription by direct debit. £29 per year well spent i think.

I,m new on this site and think its great. No competitiveness, ie my car is better/faster than yours. the rich and the poor get along side by side sharing their love for their mercs.
the best part from a forum like this is wealth of technical knowledge. A garage may tell you blah,blah but is that because they would like the work?
If someone misinforms you here then many others will be quick to correct

as far as i was aware this was not a club like the supramkiv owners club and such. there is no fee to pay but everyone i have spoken to so far has been friendly and helpful, and in the other threads there seem to be get togeathers all over the uk.

I've been an active member to Benzworld.org forums since 2002, and I find that a fantastic source of technical information for individual models. However, you do have to tolerate American humour (humor?) and opinions <shudder>

Only recently joined up here, and it seems a friendly enough place. I find the general Benz pages on here of most interest, as you get to hear about other models, rather than pigeon-holing yourself to one type in the Benzworld forum.

Good point on Benzworld and MB world and I belong to both, as you day its so big. I have made some good friends in the 230 sections on both, but time gets too short to get back there very often

I looked around at many of the MB forums also ... and found many to be very good to be honest .... I settled on this one because the range of information available is excellent and there seems to be a very accomodating forum style at play.

I am a member of a couple of other non MB forums also and have been using various forums for years.

The successful forums tend to be open and friendly, non clicky or snobby and generally welcoming and respectful ... everything this Mercedes-Benz Owners happens to be.

... So I decided to stay a while ....
