Immobiliser/Cenral lock problem on 96 SL320

Stopped car to get paper, on return immobliser will not deactivare/activate nor will central locking. Changed batteries in key & used spare key. please help

Do you have a spare key and do check the key with a camera

What exactly is it doing?? What are the red/green light doing, does it turn over, does the alarm go off, have you checked all fuses including the ones in the boot?

Left car for 5 mins unlocked. On

Left car, removed key, didn't set immob/alarm. On return 5 mins later pointed key to mirror leds, only a faint flash from red led.(Much weaker than normal) Nothing from green light. Put key in ignition, starter turns as normal but of course immob. is still activated. Went home got spare key. Tried it- didn't work. Went to garage got new batts for key, checked key by holding button for 1 sec & red light flashes. Tried again to no avail. central lock switch on dash will lock doors. Checked fuses in boot.OK.Alarm is not activated & pressing the key doesn't change that. Disconnected battery just now. Left key in switch for 3 mins but still no satisfaction.

First problem with car in 16 months. Please let it be simple!

Sounds like you alarm has got itself confused.com, my CL does this sometimes but tends to come back to life if I try to start the car with the red mirror light flashing. sounds to me like a fault with the sensor on the rear mirror.
