Imtermitent starting C220 elegance

Hi i have a problem with my C220 starting, the problem seems to be the ECU.
The car will turn over but not egnite. If left for half an hour it will start (sometimes). The fuel pump is OK, can anybody help me with this fustrating problem. :sad:

could be the OVP

Wayne, this is a common fault with Mercs, and way cheaper to check and swap than an ECU. It's a tall silver relay, with a plastic cap containing a fuse, and it sits just ahead of the ecu in the engine bay. Costs about 45 quid form the dealers. takes five minutes to swap, and if it solves your problem, you are quids in. If not, it probably needed doing anyway as I believe they were nearly all faulty from new, dry joints and poor soldering. If you can't swap it yourself, MB should do it for the price of a smile, as there isn't much easier thing to do on a 202.
So that's the OVER VOLTAGE PROTECTION RELAY you are looking for when they open up on Tuesday.

as it was MJTray who taught me that lesson. Glad you got it fixed. I believe the problem will hit every MB, regardless of engine type, which had the original faulty OVPs fitted. Scared my bro with that, as he thought diesels were exempt from mortal problems.
