I need to get my machine fixed (potential suspension/ball joint/anti-roll brush problem) and have no experience of independent MB specialists local to were I live.

I have spotted adverts for two garages in various car mags - "Essentially Benz" in Muswell Hill, North London and "Mercedes Parts Centre" in Chingford, East London.

However, I have no idea which of these is the best or, indeed, whether there is a better third option in the North/East London area.

Does anyone have anyexperience of these places? Could anyone advise me?

I suspect your problem is with the drop links and, as you say, the anti-roll bar bushes (See my posting 'W230 C-Class suspension....' today).

These parts are readily available from MB parts departments, and very easy to fit. No specialist knowledge or tools are needed. Any local repair shop should be able to do this for you - you don't need an MB dealer or MB specialist.

Thanks for the response. I want to source a good local specialist in any case, just in case I get a bigger problem at some point.

In any case, the problem I have sounds nasty enough (see my posting on "creaking sounds on front driver's side wheel" posted earlier this week), and being not massively mechanically-minded, I would rather entrust an expert to sort it.

Hi

Has anybody used the Mercedes Parts Centre in Chingford, East London. They're local to me and considering popping down there, just wondered if anyone had any good/bad experiences relating to services/workshop?

Many thanks

Hi James,

Dont know anything about the shop in Chingford, but if you want a really good ex reliance Mercedes mech, I can give you my mans number.
He worked there for 18 years but stayed with the garage when it changed to Audi.
He knows Mercedes like no other Mech that I have come across in the 25 years or so that I have been involved with cars, so much so, that no-one else touched my 500E and the same goes for my new car, 94 E60 AMG.

If you choose to use him, please be patient, as he is a very very busy mech, as he does all his private work in his own time, but if you want the work done to the highest standards without the highest prices, I dont know if you will find any better

regards,

Terry.

Hello James,

was not able to PM you.
Dont want to put his number on the thread, he's busy enough as it is!
If you cant PM me, let me know and maybe we can meet, I am in Chigwell, so we are pretty close, I think?
regards,

Terry.
