Independent Merc garage in or around Bristol

Can anyone recommend an independent garage in or around Bristol (England).

My w203 needs a minor service, and I have some odd electrical faults that need to be looked at with a star machine.

(Been put off going to the main dealer after reading horror stories on this forum).

I go up the Westerleigh road everyday on the way back from work. Have never noticed Auto Classico. Will take a proper look tonight.

As per Lakeside, I've used http://www.autospecbristol.co.uk and http://www.italian-cars.co.uk/. I would recommend them both. Autospec might be better equipped for more modern mercs - it's run by the former workshop manager at the main dealer.

I've only had very positive experiences at Autospec. Craig more then helpful. However, they have a steep entrance/exit ramp and when my SL55 was in last week someone 'chinned' it. As I have to go back later this week for additional parts it will be interesting to hear Craig's response. Maybe I'm being too fussy. Will let you know the outcome.

I use Briant Tyres at Westerleigh, I have 3 sprinter vans and a w211 car, allways had a good service.

If it is any help, Parkway looked after my C class for years and I found them very good. My car never let me down nor needed any expensive repairs.

The tyre place behind "what not" supplied all my tyres for the cars and vans for years.

What these businesses have in common are;

No reception,

No free tea/coffee

No newspapers.

No office staff.

Cash welcome.

Good service, competitive prices.

My neighbour was telling me about two specialist independents both I had intended to look up this morning.
One was behind Blackboy Hill and the other was somewhere near the feeder road.
I will look them up but could well be ones that are already mentioned.

Not sure what triggered this thread resurrection. However, the garage mentioned behind Blackboy Hill is Bavarian Autos. There is a good guy there but they specialise in BMW. They do other german marques although don't think they have Star.

I used BG Griffiths last time. They did a good job and very reasonable rates.

Star diagnostics £30. Ex Merc technicians. Steve who works there has worked on the SLR McClarens. Very nice couple of guys. New premises and the place is mint. Not a drop of oil on the ground. T and Coffee and I had a can of coke out their fridge FOC... ;-)

There is a decent café type place on the way into the Ind Estate with decent food. And they never ripped me off. A rarity after dealing with the main stealers in Cribbs.

As a side note I damaged my headlamp (E Class 2007) and cracked the clips off. the lamps is 600 pounds from cribs. I asked Merc Cribbs if you could just buy the case or anything like that and was told no. after some looking on the internet I found Mercedes/Hella do a repair pack which is 3 new mounting brackets. £20.. I asked them why they didn't tell me and was told they want to sell the lamps...!!!
