As above. I fancy having both fluids changed as a preventative measure
I'm in north Notts/South Yorkshire. Any suggestions?
I did use Star at Moorends when I had my Vito but just wondering if there was anyone else particularly with the ABC being quite rare.

https://www.europasheffield.co.uk/mercedes-benz/ cannot be far from you, they are an independent MB authorised service partner, I haven't used them as they were beaten on price by the Leeds dealership for my last service so I would advise the usual caveats of due diligence etc...

Thanks
I was aware of Europa but I kind of fancied using a genuine indie so as to avoid the usual arguments from main dealers regarding the necessity of certain jobs. Europa are kind of in the middle I guess.
York ok though.

I use Europa and never have an issue at all. Ive heard them tell customers of cheaper options even if its sending work away from themselves.

They’s also a guy at hatfield woodhouse who’s MB specialist. And Autotechnics on Balby Carr industrial. They’re BMW MB Audi VW specialists. Ive had a lot of customers at work rave about Autotechnics

Hi Milu,
Sorry for intruding on your post, but you may be able to help answer another question. I have posted on a thread on the forum, called " 722.6 Transmission Fluid Level check", If you care to have look, it's self explanatory. but basically, the MB 722.6 transmission was a sealed unit, as it was supposed to last the life of the vehicle, so no dipstick was provided. Of course,as time has proved, MB has done an about turn on the sealed for Life viewpoint, and now changing the ATF is listed as a service requirement. But the only dipstick's available are not MB produced, but generic models. As they are different sizes, we are told that it does not matter how long they are, as the 3" plastic tip can only enter to the correct dept as there is a "STOP" on the tip itself. One way so see if this is true would be to take a pic of a transmission when the sump is off, and the dipstick is inserted. Do you think that when you are getting your ATF changed, the Indie might take a few pics? Showing the positioning of the dipstick in situ?
Would be much appreciated if you can do this.....and for your own information too when you need to check the trans oil level yourself in the future.
Best Regards,
Jim.

Has a quote from Rh in York
Approx £450 all in for both fluids. Not bad I reckon. Going to get booked in
I'll ask about the dipstick

On that subject I have one from owning the vito which only went in so far...hitting the bottom I guess. Was useful in keeping an eye on things

Hi Milu, the dipstick I have is the 1220mm one, and when inserted into the pipe in my w212 E class, there is still about 9" hanging outside. So maybe the 1220 mm one is for the Vito? Unfortunately, when I was changing the ATF in my car.. I did not think of inserting the dipstick and taking a few pics of the internals while the sump was off.
And the 1220 mm is flexing a bit...so I cant really trust what it tell's me when I dip it. I have ordered a 920 mm one, so we will see how that performs when it arrives. But a pic would show exactly what is happening, if your Indie can do it.
Thanks again,
Jim.

The tip of the disptick hits the stopper on the sump, so there is no issue with it extending out. They are not designed to be left in.

Insert until you feel the slightest resistance and dont push, the level will be accurate like that.

Is the stopper the floor of the sump? Or does the dipstick only enter into the oil level to a certain point, and is stopped at that point?
