Just had work done at an indy for my MY2000 W202 C180. Invoice as follows;

Ball Joints: £55.00
Offside Rear Bush: £21.04
AntiRoll Bar Bush: £41.04
Labour: £260.00

+VAT.

The labour rates seem really high for the work done -or am I just being unrealistic? Don't think this will cost much more at a dealer.

I'm not sure where you are in the UK, however if you give the people I use a call they will glady tell you if the labour rates are inflated or about right. All of the technicians are ex-MB and have a wealth of knowledge and experience. They all say that the MB main dealer rates are disgraceful and unwarranted!! The service I get is exemplary - no need for main dealer costs and inconvenience when some of these independants will move heaven and earth to ensure they delight the customer.

The people I use are http://www.premier-service.co.uk/

Give them a call...

TP charge £95 per hour (+ VAT) for labour so that's about 2 1/2 hours work at stealer prices. I would say the work you had done in probably about 4 hours worth so still looks to be about 1/2 what a stealer would charge

I was a bit disapointed when I rang them about the glowplug light coming back on, they wanted to hook it up to Star for one hours labour before they would do anything.
Phoned Starsilver in Rothley, they would change the faulty plug for less than Premier wanted to hook it up to Star and all five for £155 inc
In the end it was done under warranty by the selling dealer, all 5 for free.

Hi,

These are reasonable rates. On the same car I paid GBP200 for the lower ball joints at MB.

Your work is concerned with front and rear suspension. Prices are much lower than at MB.

Yes, I did call around a couple of dealers and labour rates were almost double. Did not realise it involved that much work...
