Hi,
My mercedes had a knocking noise, white smoke from exhaust etc. Mechanics at first thought it was the turbo, got that tested and stripped, came back all fine.
Then sent my injectors away, all four failed, number two was unfuelling massively - this was then suggested as the knocking noise.
I got 4 brand new injectors and car seems to be driving fine now, actually quieter than when i first brought it, no knocking present. I’ve read alot of things about potential engine damage if injectors have failed, I only drove the car 15 mins before pulling over and calling recovery, it lost power and obviously visable smoke from exhaust, no lights on the dash whatsoever and cehicle hadnt been driven since.
Do I keep this vehicle, did I catch the fault in time? Or could there be engine damage that could occur down the line? Would I be able to keep it for 6 months to a year just so I can get some costs together for a new car, as I’ve spent £2k getting this fixed. Or is advice to sell it straight away? Mechanics aren’t being helpful and are giving mixed messages, I’m at a loss at what to do with it. I’m young and have spent massive amounts of money getting it repaired but reading online it could still have engine damage, I really like the car but on the fence whether to keep it or not?!
