Injector problem solved on new cdi engine?

Hi everyone,

Im planning to buy a 2011/2012 used e250 cdi or e350cdi.

But I am afraid of the injector problem after I saw lot of threads discussing abt the faulty injector of cdi engine of C or E class.

Just wonder has this problem been solved on the relatively new E250/350 cdi model after 2011?

You do see a lot of talk on `black death` on this site, but although quite a few motors do have problems many many more don`t. I keep running cdi`s and have had no problems. All I do is before I buy is take the engine cover off and give the injector bases a good looking over. If they are clean I do not expect trouble. If in any doubt employ barge pole mentality. If black death is caught early its not the end of the world and is treatable and not too expensive at a diesel specialist.

Most cars after summer 2012 were fitted with solenoid type injectors rather than the more problematic piezo injector type. Cars prior to that are being retrofitted with these solenoid injectors [ its quite a comprehensive refit involving a new ECU,engine wiring loom, fuel return pipes and of course injectors] but I would assume this would only apply to cars still under warranty? long thread here about the issue. http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/engine/77050-blue-efficiency-injector-recall-79.html
