Hi

I would like to attach my iPod mp3 player to my Comand audio system installed in my S class (2000) Does anybody know how to do this e.g. is there an AUX input etc, and if I need any MB optional parts.

Thanks

John

You used to be able to get a tiny FM transmitter which you attach to the iPod and then tune into the signal with you radio tuner I think they were taken off the market in the UK because they were not 100% legal but if you want to go this root I am sure you would have no problem getting one on the web.
Good luck.

iPods in cars

I have just been investigating this. It seems amazingly difficult to do, given that technically, it would be extremely easy if the radio manufacturers hadn't fitted all sorts of custom interfaces!
The options seem to be:
(1) use a cassette adapter. A kludge that may work on some cassette decks, but doesn't on my Audio 10 (cassette is ejected).
(2) use an FM re-transmitter, as suggested by Owen. Easy enough to buy (I bought from www.myfmstation.com, and someone (Griffon? Belkin?) does a neat, iPod-styled version; works, but a real pain to use in practice, as you have to keep re-tuning to a different frequency as you drive, as it's difficult to find unused frequencies.
(3) buy a new radio, choosing one with an aux input, and buy the appropriate adapter. Blaupunkt cheapest, as the cable/adapter is only £7; most Kenwoods ok, adapter ~£25; beware Sony & Pioneer, adapter can be >£50. Try www.incarexpress.co.uk and www.caraudiodirect.co.uk
(4) get an adapter for the OE Audio 10. That's where I've got to in my searching. Any info, anyone?
