Hi

My 2002 E270 CDI had battery problems recently due to lack of use. I've changed the battery but now find that the instrument cluster isn't working. The speedo, revs counter and info panel all stopped doing their job. Everything else seems fine. Does anyone have any recent positive experience of the cluster repair services that fix these problems?
I've watched lots of youtube videos, hecked all of the fuses and checked and re-charged the batteries. I've had the cluster out for a visual check on the mechanical parts. Nothing found so far, so biting the bullet and ready to pay for a fix. Any pointers appreciated.

Cheers

Old Man

Try a local indie that has Star/Xentry - I had a total failure of my instrument cluster a while ago on the S204, turned out that somehow the cluster had lost its programming, a local indie with Star/Xentry was able to diagnose and fix the problem for not a lot of cash money, and touch wood it's been fine ever since.

Thanks Chrishazle. A local Indie might have fixed it cheaper but I don't know of any low cost (old banger fixer) ones where I am.
I sent it to Totaltronics in Rugby. It came back fixed with a lifetime guarantee.I don't know it it was value for money (£199), but I'm back on the road.
Patryk was very responsive. He said the main board had to be replaced. I have no way of knowing if it was, but I'm grateful That I didn't have to scrap the car.

Minor update: I had to replace the break light switch\sensor as well. I started getting ESP warnings etc after a few miles of driving. It seems to be a common problem on the W211. The multiple electrical issues have happened after I let the battery die through lack of use. The car was fine before that. Hope that helps someone.
