Hi All, Car is a 2001 51 plate 210 Eclass 220cdi Avant with 110k on the clock. I have 2 questions......

1. Over the last few months I have slowly noticed more and more pixels disappearing from the outside temp gauge (the outside temp is no longer shown apart from the odd 1 or 2 pixels) and now on the Gear selector icon and clock. About a year ago all the pixels were present. Now, I know this is a fairly common problem on these cars, but how can I resolve the issue? Do I have to get a new cluster or can mine be repaired, it doesnt stop the car driving OK but it is an annoyance. If I have to get a new cluster - will the car remember the miles its covered when the new cluster is connected?

2. Im thinking of uprating the speakers in the car, How do I remove the current factory speakers, both in the rear parcel shelf and the doors? and does anyone know what power rating the standard factory speakers are....its not a Bose system its just a standard MB system.

Many Thanks

Matt

I have looked on the EPC and I,m afraid to say it is,nt available separately, I think this is because outside temp. display was possibly standard on a 210 and an option for a 202, you may find you could remove it from your cluster and compare it too the 202 item.
For a 2nd hand cluster you could try Merc man, as i know they have broken several E class 210's recently.

Thanks all for your comments - Bigastonuk, thanks - I will get onto mercman to see what the deal is.

Callofpower - Thanks - I was really hoping not to have to remove the door panels - but will have to if I feel the need to take the upgrde that far - might just replace the speakers in the rear!!

Thanks all

Matt
