I have a W212 E350 CDi, 65k miles. A week ago the engine management warning light came on. There are no other symptoms that I have noticed.

I had it checked out by a Merc independent who advised "Fault with intake temperature sensor. Check feed to sensor. Sensor has feed. Recommend new sensor as first measure". The price quoted is >£700 incl. VAT.

That seems a huge sum to pay for a non-guaranteed fix of a problem that appears to be no more than a faulty sensor. I'd appreciate any advice on this from other members.

TIA

That does sound steep. Are you sure it was the IAT sensor he quoted on?

From memory, IAT is around £20ish (Merc oem will be more), and fitting is not a long job. That price sounds exhorbitant unless it also includes other work.

Indeed the IAT is about £20 and (at least on my r129) 10 minutes to change (including tea break).

I have a feeling they are part of the MAF sensor on these
