Greetings one and all, this is my first post so please be gentle with me!

I have come across quite an interesting car living in a garage round the corner and from speaking to the owner I now understand that I can take it off his hands for about £500.

The only thing is I know nothing about mercs in all shapes and sizes. So I need some help.

The car is a 1972 280 ce auto in copper with alloys and only 96k on the clock.
I have done a HPI and it comes back that it's only had 2 keepers.

I have had a look over it and the bodywork seems to be in good nick and the engine ticks over really nice and smooth.

How does this sound?

Are these cars any good?

Are they in anyway desirable?

What sort of price do these go for?

Should I buy it?

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

well I did the deed!

Just thought I would update everyone that I have done the deed and gone for the car.
I am now the proud and slightly skint owner of a 1972 280CE which cost me the knockdown price of £475 which I hope will not turn into a money pit.
It feels quite strange that I know own a car older than myself and nearly as old as my house!
Thanks for all the advice and I will be bugging everyone quite alot in the near future as I need a great deal of help.

cheers

Too Late!

I was going to say don't buy it it's probably a heap!

Then ask for the vendors number!:D

Seriously it sounds promising.

So lets see it soon.

No you offer some free advice, yes go and see the car with the buyer, when you get thére you point out all of the terrible things wrong with it, and the £20k repair fix, wait around the corner till its dark and slip in and buy it.
