I have, for many years, enjoyed exploring challenging passes on the French frontiers.
This has generally been done in a Land Rover, of which I have owned many over, or my faithful MGB GT V8.
SWMBO wants to spend a couple of weeks in the coming Summer touring in two of my favourite areas the Pyrenees and the Hautes-Alpes. My problem is that heretofore the passes I have explored have generally been the highest & most challenging, and mostly gravel surfaced.
The plan is to take my SL, and accordingly, on SWMBO's instructions, I want to seek out the easy passes, which I would normally avoid, and of which I have little knowledge. The intention is to stay overnight in the area of the passes, so recommendations of passes & good food & accommodation are equally welcome.
