interior lights and doors unlocking

yesterday afternoon, while driving on the highway, my 2000 clk320, the interiors lights would just come on and go off along with both doors unlocking and relocking for no apparent reason, could there be a short some where in perhaps the wiring, or this be the beginning signal of serious problems ahead of me, pls help... as this has never happen before, i have owned this car for approx. 1 1/2 yrs with no problems...with timely maintenance....

My E240 used to do this. It was a door pin switch - nothing more serious than that. Either the door isn't closing properly - you can test it by leaving the window down and rocking the door to see if you can make the light come on. If you can, the lock will need adjusting. If not and given that you only have 2 and they're cheap anyway - i'd just replace both switches.
