Interior lights not working

Hi, Just taken ownership of a w211 e320cdi and the rear roof lights will not work! i presume that you can somehow prise the large plastic covers off to check the bulbs? but i am a bit concerned about breaking the plastic! is there any other reason why the light should not work? many thanks Dave

I do not know for sure, but I think there is a switch for this to turn them on and off,someone with a 211 will tell you
