Been offered a 91' 300te with a very good grey interior with electric front seats (the switches are mounted on the door). I want to put this interior into my car 89' 230te) to replace the horrible beige colour I have at the moment! My car doesnt have electric seats in it so will the new seats fit straight in or will i have to transfer any wiring or is it already in my car and just need plugging in?...ditto the door cards? If i have to transfer the wiring harnesses to my car what sort of job will that be?? Sorry for all the questions but need to clarify this before parting with the cash for 300te and though you guys might know! Cheers

You will have to take all of the door wiring as it will not be in your car.and all of the wiring for the seats.

There is a thread on the forum if you do a serch about 6 months ago with the same car as yours where the guy did what you want to do,he got it all working.

It seems as though all the extras on the W124 had their own separate looms so retrofitting electric seats shouldn't be a nightmare - just remove & refit the individual looms

You'll need to run a power feed to each seat. The door trims are different but you'd have to put them side by side to see the exact differences. You may not have to swop the whole door card though that's the easiest solution. If you're changing interior colour you'll need the door cards anyway. The seats will bolt in OK but it's really a 2-man job to get them in & bolted up

Make sure the squabs of the new front seats aren't too saggy. If they are there used to be a rebuild kit consisting of two blocks of foam

The time to clean the carpets is when the seats are out!

Cheers for the advice Nick..just one more question...Are the looms just plugged into the main loom of the car (meaning my 230te will have the female plugs already on my loom so just plug and play) or do I have to do some snipping? Thanx again
