intermitant charge

another problem 200 series mid 90s
diesel
new battery and alternater
will intermitantly flatten battery then after jumpstart run for a couple of weeks then flatten battery again
any ideas :?:
(get one running for a friend they come out of the wood work )

hey,
im not too familar with the mid 90s MB, but on the older diesels the causes of something like this were most likely:
-a bad connection of the wire leads most likely at the battery posts or just bad cables.
-the glow plug relay maybe coming on intermittenly and draining your battery.
-battery
-alternator
- or you have a really pain-in-the-ass electrical short somewhere :cry:
-just some common areas to look into, but im sorry im not familar with your model.

just a thought, could it be an intermittant faulty interior boot light draining the battery down over night? Have a look at boot switch, if nackered take out bulb for temporary fix.

thank you will take a look at these
as its a friends car dont rearly know precice details as to when it happens ie does he go into the boot before it goes flat

turned out to be the heater plugs relay
dead easy had melted bottom of plastic case
the intermitent draining was caused by one of the terminals floating (due to the damaged case) and earthing
