Intermittant stating probs SLK 320

I have a SLK 320 manual 2002 51 plate, excellent car with no problems until last year when it developed an intermittant problem with starting. Basically you turn the key as normal and the usual lights come on the dash as normal but when you try to start the engine there is nothing, I try for 1/2 an hr and still nothing so I call out the AA and they tow it home and still nothing but if I try it the next morning it will start no problems. Recently before I went on holiday I tried to start it but it wouldn't, when I got back of holiday the following week it started no problem! I have had it towed to the nearest MB dealer twice and both times it started without any problems when they try, so they have a poke around and charge £180 for the privelage but can't find a problem. When this started happening it was maybe once every 3 months but know it is more like once a month. I am very frustrated. Please can somebbody help??

Hello and welcome to the forum, by putting a voltmeter on the small terminal of the starter and turning the key will you know if its a starter problem or a DAS fault

Thanks, I'll try this next time it won't start. By the way whats a DAS fault, sounds expensive.
