First of all, I hope this has been posted in the correct thread? I know this is an electrical problem. But all problems in cars it seems are electrical!!!! ha ha :) I'll re post if it should be in the Electrical thread. Thanks.

For the 3rd or 4th time now over that year or so I have had the dreaded "Reduced braking power. Depress brake pedal fully" with all the alarms and whistles. Once was while I was driving!! Luckily I was going slowly on a quiet road where i could pull off and coast to a stop.

Each time, turning the ignition off & waiting to restart resets everything.

After the time it went off when i was driving I took it strait to my local MB Independent garage, that has the full MB Star diagnostics. They could see the fault, (a drop in communication) they cleared it and resent the breaking system. (As i understood it, my Spanish is not great) They told me that sometimes the breaking electronic module gets a glitch, dry solder, or something similar. It sometimes happens. Just restart the car and all should be fine. Preventative measures and not a thing in Spain, when it breaks it gets fixed.

I'd like to know if there is something I should be doing or looking out for or into.

I am not sure if the electrics are in the SBC module with all the brake lines coming out of it, or is there a control box between the peddle & SBC, In fact are there multiple breaking modules that might be responsible? I am pretty sure I have one of the last models with the electronic breaking. Even though I have the V6 engine but pre facelift lights and grill. ha ha yes lucky me. :)

The most resent, third or 4 time it has happened, the car had been sitting for a week or so. The alarm didn't go off until I depressed the break to select a gear, the engine was already running.

I have read on a few threads that sometimes this can be caused by a low battery. But each time for me the engine has been running, and i know m battery is good. But I have not changed the Aux battery in a while, might this cause problems if the car had been sitting a while?

I'd be grateful for any for any practical help from someone who has faced the same problems.

Thank you

Giles
