Greeting

I have acquied a 1999 Mercedes c200 Elegance from a friend who lives inside the London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ)

It is automatic and as a manual gearbox user it took a bit of getting used to, however

It did not have a printed drivers manual so I am asking for help on line to solve the fo;llowong problem

=> The rear passenger door Child Lock appears to be jammed in the closed position and so the door cannot be opened either from the inside or the outside ----- any suggestions on how to solve thw problem (is there a switch somewhere on the dashboard, or do I have to fiddle around with a piece of wire uinside the doorframe ? )

Thanks in advance

Micky

Childlocks are via the small mechanical switch on the door frame, nothing electrical.
Better getting to an indy or even a dealer to at least get it open. It may not be the child lock, it could be a jammed mechanism or a failed door switch, dont discount something more than the child switch

Hello and welcome

It could be worth have someone apply pressure to the outside of the door (pressing the door in) to give the mechanism a bit of space to move. Whilst you try and open the catch from the inside or outside.
it can be very difficult getting a door to open if the lock has jammed, without doing some serious damage to trim or door cards. :(
