Hello all,

A quick introduction and a request for advice

I'm the proud owner of a 1984 280ce, bought with my hard earned cash a couple of weeks ago

Last week I was hit by a taxi driver tho - he turned straight into me at a crossroads. I've got him bang to rights, but the cost of repairing my car means the insurance company are thinking of declaring it uneconomical to repair

One option I'm thinking about is keeping the car and getting it fixed - anyone know of any suppliers of 2nd hand parts? I need a whole new rear wing for the drivers' side & buying new is going to cost too much when the labour's added in (it's not the sort of job I can do myself)

I've got a couple of pictures but they were larger than the forum allows you to post

ps I've also got some photos from the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart from this summer

I wouldn't have though that by the time someone took a rear wing off a scrapper that the cost would be much different to a pattern part. Add in the fact that anything used is bound to have rot and need repair before it's even fitted, which will make it even more expensive, surely the pattern route is the way to go?
It's also worth ringing round the dealers. One may have the wing on his shelf collecting dust and be prepared to take an offer.
Also how about Ebay?

I have a friend who back in 1984 took his to spain, where a scooter ran into the back wing, and that car was written off at 1 year old. its an expensive panel to fit and as Jberks says the chances are there will be little left to fix it to as all of the wheel arch will need replacement. the body could also be out of line.
