irratic throttle

Hi folks

Need some help with my 99 w202 c180 when i start the car the rev's fly up to
3k and the fall tp below 5 and then it cuts out when driving it the throttle occationaly becomes very sensitive and excellerate's alot harder than usual.
any idea's

Presume that you have the 111 2 litre engine. I had similar problem that turned out to be the throttle butterfly sticking in the housing due to oil contamination, removed throttle housing and cleaned sticky contamination off. Now been ok for last few months. Housing at the end of air intake held on by allen screws.

There was a post 1 or 2 days back where the problem was a micro switch on the cables assembly

Hi guys

Ive cleaned out the throttle body it was very contaminated mind you it has done 163k. The symptons have now change now it hunts ill have a go at the micro switch next.

Hunting is an air leak on the intake, thats 99% sure. check all plastic pipes

Mission accomplished The thick black pipe that connects to the top of the inlet manifold wasn't quite connected to the black rubber. runs sweet again.

still doing it

Still playing sily buggers so i disconnected the block connector comming from the throttle housing its now running fine so i think i may need one of those micro switch's.
