I had an odd start up problem on my lush 190E. It would generally start fine
but sometimes it would get in a mood an be a pain to start.

Had an Auxillary Air slide fitted (under Manifold I'm told) and guess what its been perfect ever since!

The old one was dirty and so forth- so just a tip if you are experiencing this
intermitent gripe! :p life is too short for cheap beer!

Yep its the same thing. Haynes manual calls its Aux Air Device most ppl call them idle air valve. Its at the back of the engine block one pipe in one pipe out.

Could be the cure for mine. It only starts from cold at 750rpm and has no fast idle . Is it a dealer only part, and how much?

Careful now! You dont want to spend money before knowing exactly whats the problem. Describe the engines behaviour in different conditions - hot start/cold start/idling/acceleration etc. You could have a very dirty throttle body or bad engine temp sensor etc.

Hot starts are ok. Runs and accelerates fine. The first start of the day is the problem- no fast idle and not going above 750rpm. Have renewed the coolant tmp. sensor ,but no change. Since reading this I've removed the auxiliary air device and sprayed carb cleaner into it, and it actually started at 1000rpm for two mornings then back to being a pain (750). How would I clean the throttle body?
