Hi all,

As thread suggests I am having alarm troubles with my 2003 C-Class estate!
It sounds like its in a bucket of water and keeps going off all he time and also the indicators flash a lot!
I asked a local car electronics guy if it could be disconnected and he didnt know but said he could take a look but ould charge me £75 call out even if he couldnt do anything!
With this in mind I wanted to know if it can be disconnected before I waste my £75?

Thanks
Adam

see your earlier post - £75 will buy the new part. Not hard to fix & as far as I know, plug & play so no MB involvement required

I have just read this on another post on this forum:

"Later cars (newer electronic ignition key) had some problems with the terminals of the siren corroding, usually meant the siren would sound at odd times (as the unit thought someone had disconnected it, so would sound off with its internal battery..untill it ran flat and stopped working)
Cure was a new siren and connector. "

Makes me think I may need a new siren as its going of intermitantly when car is locked.
Any ideas?
Can I just buy a new siren and fit that myself?

You will have to get from MB, but fitting is simple - one bolt & one electrical connector once you get to it. You will know which side it's on, so wheel off, then remove the inner wheel arch - a combination (on mine anyway) of 10mm bolts & the odd "pop" connector. The only shadow of doubt I have (and it's very faint!) is the plug & play aspect - MB will confirm

Thanks drmw,

So you are saying most likely I need a new siren?
Can I just disconnect the siren and have no alarm?
If not can I buy a new siren and fit myself?
If so how much?

We had a guy who bought one for his 129 off Ebay it was identical in every way to the MB one and probably made by them only £38 if I remember correctly
