Is there a better way of changing differential fluid?

Hi. This is my first post here. Ideally the car needs to be horizontal to drain and refill the rear differential on a W210. But, the car is too low. I can jack up the rear and put 2 ramps. That gives me access but it will be on a slope which is not good. Can you suggest a better way?

To drain and fill the rear differential on a W210, I can access it if I Jack up the car and place 2 ramps. But this makes it at a slope which is not good. Any suggestion of a better way of doing it?

Perhaps find an upward slope so lifting the back levels it up. Unlikely but an idea, a better suggestion is to make sure that the filler plug comes out before draining the oil.

It would be ideal if you had something that would raise the car adequately to allow you to reach the differential - a couple of solid wood blocks maybe?

If your only option is the ramps, I doubt if the degrees of slope will significantly impact the draining or filling.
As was said earlier, loosen the fill bolt first. The bolts are very tight, you'll need a breaker bar or equivalent.

If you have ramps and a jack then put the rear on ramps and jack the front if it bothers you however the slight slope will have a negligible effect.

Consider a Pela pump or similar,
especially if the drain plug is tight.

A couple of days spraying with Plusgas might help, don't spray for the whole 48 hours though.

So my thoughts are: jack the car up on level ground and drain the diff - siphon it out the fill level hole with a Pela or similar. with it still jacked up, fill the diff until you get diff oil coming out of the fill level plug hole. Because of the forward slant with it being jacked up, you will have overfilled the diff slightly. Now let the car down on the jack with the diff filler plug still out. Wait for a few minutes until any excess oil had drained out and then jack the car back up and replace the filler plug. You can measure how much comes out and compare how much goes in as a cross check...

I had the same problem ..but a visit to my local garage,, with enough oil to do the job , and it was done for me only took 15mins at the most. And most important is - If you > can not < remove the filler plug after you have drained off.. Then your will be stuck once you remove rhe oil. bacause you will not be unable to refill .
