Is there a Cover Plate under the engine - E320 1994 Estate

Can anyone tell me if my E320 should have a plate or cover which goes under the engine between the chassis members to protect it? My brother-in-law has a plate on his 1993 300TD.

Yes there should be a plastic splash protector held in place by four hex head screws and large diameter washers. These screw into nylon inserts in the chassis rails. A main dealer should be able to supply the correct items - even MB can't charge much for these!
