Thank you Steve
I'm new to all this the Car was for my retirement and have been disappointed now I will confront Mercedes you have given me hope really appreciate it can i also ask you my auxiliary battery malfunction message comes up on the dash board do you think i should get it fixed from mercades or an independent garages as i have lost comfidence any idea of cost also i live in the midlands
If you are under warranty get the dealer to do it.
If not a good independent is worth their weight in gold.

Depending where you are in the Midlands Jaymanek at Mercland in Nuneaton gets good reviews.

Picture of exhaust for C200 here detailing parts:

To be sure this is your model can you please post the first six numbers of your VIN (205xxx - need the X's to be certain).

This is a 205042. Clearly shows one exhaust and one NOx sensor (item 250) part number A0009053503

Good morning all
I purchased a c200 petrol Mercedes-Benz from Cambridge in 2018 registered in 2015 used car. It is under a service plan for 4 years my issue is I have had both NOX sensors replaced in a period of 2 years 1st 2019 and the second in 2020 now one has failed showing
Bank1 Sensor 1 I only drive 5000 a year the car is well maintained Mercedes have said as I had a extended warranty they will not give any thing towards it they also want £120 to check which one is faulty
Can anyone help with advise.
Very similar situation to myself.

C200..Petrol..and already had the Nox sensor replaced in Aug 2020 and engine management light came up again last month.

I've been told the same as you i.e. two Nox sensors. They're charging me £ 192 for the diagnostics!!

I am sure I have also read on here that there are indeed two Nox sensors but I wonder if that is only for diesel engines. Can anyone please confirm this?

I am much more likely to believe people on here than my dealer but if dealers are telling customers there are two nox sensors and using that as a means to charge again for replacement then isn't that criminal????

The forum was right I rang a dealer and asked the price of a sensor and asked how many are fitted ,I was told 1.
Mine is a petrol I was told it is a 1.6 engine which was enhanced to 2 litre so mine is 2LTR straight line 4 cylinder petrol diesels may have 2 I am yet to challenge the dealership . The error code is P2200 bank 1 line 1 hope this helps I'm new to the forum but the members are great.

As mentioned earlier put the first six numbers of your VIN here and we can show your parts list detailing what is where.

Diesels have two and are notoriously problematic.

Hello guys
Thank you for your fantastic support,

I have been in contact with Mercedes they say because your NOX sensors were replaced under the used car warranty from Mercedes they can not cover them as the policy must be in force .I have told the dealer that is irrelevant as all parts come with 2 years warranty and I have a petrol engine with 51000 miles so the parts were not fit for purpose the problem still exists after 2 sensors they said they will get back to me due to the parts not being available because of the chip shortage they said we think they should be covered but be mindful you may have to pay. I also stated I did 9000 miles in 2 years they should last for at least 5 years waiting for a response.

Could you guys also tell me how much it costs for a auxiliary battery fitted my is flashing on and off saying auxiliary battery malfunction..

Smart + others :)
I believe you can’t get warranty on replacement warranty parts unless you make some sort of payment to said replacement part.

The part itself should have one years warrenty if it a mercedes genuine part (in case it was the last one you had replaced)

Mercedes parts have a 24 month warranty, although as had been said earlier payment has to have been made for the warranty to be initiated. If the parts were replaced for free then there is no new or additional warranty from the original part.

I paid £400 for the warranty originally plus Mercedes-Benz parts have 2 year warranty?

I'm following in your footsteps buddy.

Same error code on the reader as you although in my instance I only have 20,000 miles on the clock and this would be the 3rd Nox replacement since I purchased it from them.

Truly baffled as to why they are pushing the line that there are two nox sensors. I may give them enough rope to hang themselves and then threaten them with trading standards.

I'd be starting to quote the 2015 consumer act and in particular the bits about 'fit for purpose' and 'merchantable quality'.

May I ask based on the - no warranty on parts if no payment made............................ if original part "not fit for purpose" and replaced by a batch of those same design original parts "not fit for purpose" rather than the newer redesigned parts................and subsequent failure occurs, then consumer expected to pay for rectification?

We know of repeated NOx failures on many same vehicle(s) - just seems a little unfair to the consumer.

Exactly.

If the replacement part (not paid for) was from a sub-quality batch then they might be on dodgy legal ground getting customers to pay for the 3rd+ replacement.

For all we know they may even be using the dodgy batch for replacements.

Ok so that was the correct part number and there's definitely only one.

Thankyou.

My car is booked in tomorrow for the £ 192 diagnostic. I already know it's the nox sensor. I've had the car just under 3 years and this will be the 3rd nox sensor the car has had in my time. It may well have had a replacement before I bought it as it was 18 months old at that time.

I will report back tomorrow on what MB tell me.
