Hi,

Just checking the MOT history of a car I might be interested in. It passed it's last two MOT's but both of them had the same Advisories: -

N/S Front wheel slightly distorted (monitor and repair as necessary)
O/S Front wheel slightly distorted (monitor and repair as necessary)

Should I be concerned?

TIA

Steve

Common these days - owner might even have fitted a new wheel (or had it straightened) from one MOT to the next... huge wheels = bent rims and broken springs

They are 19" s on a C63

Just seems weird considering a car with distorted wheels :)

With the condition on our roads and how most people drive without any care it’s common place. To be honest I’m amazed at how their cars don’t just snap into pieces.

If the rest of the car is good I’d not be overly concerned as they can be easily replaces by aftermarket ones that model but, for me, it highlights the seller/owner doesn’t give two fvcks about safety and spending money where they should! It also shows that one does not care about sorting it. That says it’s all about how they have treated the car. In between an MOT is forgivable but two on the trot, means there are better cars about.

I’d be knocking the cost of new MB wheels off the price at the very least.

Bent rims are extremely common on low profile wide wheels on our potholed roads. Most owners probably don't even realise. The first indication is often when the wheel won't balance properly. They must be pretty bad for the MOT tester to have picked up on it. The 18" AMG alloys on my SL55 seemed to bend all the time. The 19s on the '63 don't seem as bad (touch wood). The only fix is new wheels. People say you can beat them back into shape, but I never found anyone who could do it properly. Also, alloy wheels can crack.

You need to factor in the cost of new wheels into the cost of the car. It is a definite negotiating point.

I asked my daughter if her car had any advisories when she said her car had passed the MOT.
She had no idea "dad it passed ?" she never looked at the paper.
I checked it out on an App and it had the same ones over and over no idea where it is tested as she lives away from us but they don't sound very good to me.

You only need to drive into a bad pothole once to cause damage.

Last week my sister drove into one and her tyre exploded.

The only one who benefits is car garages and the treasury - thats why they don't fix them oh and because councils have peed all out money away.

Yes, there’s definitely a good reason for doing a drive through London protest (cars not farming machinery) it’s the only way to get anything done on our roads nowadays lol

Sadly once you let anything past the point of no return, then there’s no turning back. Just look at all real world examples to-date.

The roads will never get better! The whole world is falling to bits and it will never get better.
