A guy i used to work with spent 30+ yrs in SA, said taking a new LR/RR into the bush: Forget it

I've had my jump leads about 30 years. They were made by a mate of a mate from welding cable .... and they're long enough that you don't need the cars virtually touching. :)

welding cable the BEST way as is a cable link to the 2 jaws so spring dont anneal with heat and wreck clamps

Mine are fitted with a pair of Anderson connectors. Allows safe and rapid connect and disconnect plus when I had a Defender I had a permanent connection to the battery with an Anderson connector.

Yep they are the best. We always had issues on site with welding cable vanishing.....maybe your mate was involved.:)

Not really but the battery was under the passenger seat which being non standard meant it had to be removed for access.

got u... just out of apprenticeship i had about a yr on overhaul of construction company's site lr,s ,110 88,90 and in those days lr could not make up their mind, A/F whitworth and even metric were involved ,eventually disassembly involved the gas axe!! not my favorite memories always missing skin ! and whilst i would agree that a lr would with some intervention get you home they were without doubt an old mf that wore a garden shed..... we have a friend who bought one 4/5 yr ago and replacing a £5 seal on top back of eng cost him a grand as it was determined as a body off job !

4WDriving/offroading seems to work batteries over and there is always someone that will need a jump start or some sort of boost.

must admit one of the more useful features of my ml250 blutec is the built in jump terminals under the bonnet surprised really that was not an extra? or maybe i should worry as to why benz deemed it ness ?

Because the battery is in the boot and if said battery was dead you wouldn’t be able to access to get it on charge,

Good jump leads are expensive.....;) mine are ****** heavy!
I just found my (brand new untouched) ones. They’re damn heavy when specified for a 5 litre engine!

I had a 4.5L Diesel (LandCruiser) when I purchased mine........the car had 2 big cranking batteries and I assumed that if I ever need a jump, I'd need good cables.
