hi everyone in the last two days i have stripped back the top end and checked the variable camshaft timing and its spot on, so not sure what the rattle is at 2500 RPM when in park at top end, sounds fine when driving and loads of power, today for example driving at say 30 mph at say 2000 RPM
pushed hard down for kick down and went to 6000 RPM AND TO 80 MPH IN ABOUT 2 SECONDS, so performance is great and no rattles or pinking so i may leave well alone,
still having problems with idle though, today i have reallised it is electrical and not mechanical I THINK ? went out for a drive and everytime i stopped idle very rough and stall, carried on and done some shopping and left it an hour
when i restarted her the same thing rough idle, then from no where she purred fine at 650 RPM, temps reading about 85-90, on the way home stopped six times and just sat at 650 RPM no problems, i removed one of the pipes from the e g r valve while on idle and it was like a ticking and pulsing feeling which i understand is right, then it stopped for a while after i tapped it and removed the plug and refitted it, it started ticking again, Q, when should this work and for how long,
in the last 2 weeks i have replaced,

lambda sensor as it was showing fault codes 9 / 10 / 13, on blink tester
new battery as mine just died while parked for a week,
spark plugs to bosch super plus, as was running on NGK but looked fine when removed,

in the last year only done 4000 miles, but before this she had,
all new,
o.v.p.r,
wiring loome,
air mass sensor bosch one,
air temp sensor,
temp sensor, the one for ECU when cold start and for running when warm,
charcoal canister,

when i carry out blink test im still getting 4 blinks / air mass,? is it possible that this code is just set and can`t be removed with the blink test, or has it gone again or may be a fault with the ECU, but would the air mass cause rough idle, is there any way of testing these, tried running disconnected no differance ,when reconnected while running she died,

the other Q, i noticed on my old throttle body there is a micro switch when its on idle its closed and when you open the throttle it clicks and opens what does this do ?

any help with this would be much appreiated as at the moment im a bit conffused

im not sure if its ( air mass / ovpr / egr valve / or somthing else,

can anyone help please, thanks

Have you checked the continuity of the ALL the wires from the Mass meter to the actual pins in the plug that go onto the ECU.

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts there seems to be lack of continuity sometimes in that connection.

hi kth286 thanks for the reply,
yes i checked this a few weeks ago and it all checked out ok, apart from i understand there is suppose to be 5v on one of the pins, but all im getting is 12v on one pin and nothing on the others, went out on sunday for a drive 50 miles plus, and as soon as she starts to warm up you get this rough idle when you stop, then everyting is ok again for another few stops idles great no problems, then it starts again, on sunday hit traffic and thought here we go she was perfect, idle stayed at 650 RPM while we crept along for 15 minutes or so, next stop then it started again, i did notice a couple of things that i had,ent before, when she died and you restarted her she would start first time but RPM went to 1200-1500 RPM then slowley droped back to 650-700, and also when the temp got to 90-95 the engine died more often, i mean when you stopped the idle just went mad and died / or as your slowing down just died, today went back to work and again perfect for the first 5-6 stops then it started all over again, when this is happening if you start her let it settle she stays on 650-700 RPM with a slight hesitating as soon as you put her D / R idle goes mad and dies,
any help with this would be great as im not sure where to go next,
many thanks again
