Cole was right, it was fixed before I got out of bed today :D

I did get told off for the state of the car so I treated it to a wash on the way home.

Happened to me last year in my CL....really busy main town traffic lights, caused major traffic jams...luckily got it going when cooled for abit..really scarey tho!

In fact it scared me so much that i am thinking of the changing the sensor on my E55 which i have just bought....no issues currently but it scares me knowing it could just fail...any value in doing this you think? car has done 72k (2004)...

This bit is interesting, the 2 pin Bosch/MB cost £70 from Bosch and £100 from MB now,,,, the 3 pin MB one for my CL cost £23, and that is about the right price that they are worth, Bosch may make some good stuff, but they have an income for life from these sensors that cannot cost more than £3 to make

There is very little to be gained by doing that. Where do you stop? Change it every year? Every month? Every day?

If you are worried about it, buy a spare and keep it in the boot for the eventuality of the one on the engine actually failing. Then you can soon by on your way again if it does.

To change mine I had to lay flat on top of the engine, not nice when its hot
