Hi
Does anyone know if the Blaupunkt Sevilla RD104 radio was fitted as standard in this model. If so has anyone a clue how to remove the bugger. Also a couple of the middle console lights are out AC, ash tray and Auto Gear change indicators, does anyone know the trick to getting behind the dash without breaking the wood trim. This is the model without the handbrake.
Finally could you point me in the right direction for a an operators manual ( I think they are so named  ) for the above model.
Thanks :?:

You may have to go in through the ashtray to remove the radio, there's 2 clips underneath that need pulling down to get the radio to slide out. I think the standard radio was a Becker, though that may have been just US models.

As for the lights, the centre console buttons should pull off, or you unscrew the wood-can't remember which. the bulb around the gear selector is a bit of a pain- first prise up the plastic grommet surrounding the gear selector (it's just held in with clips) then if you have the dual airbag model you have to remove the centre glovebox (2 screws inside) first, then there should be one screw and the end of the wood part (opposite end to ashtray, window switches end) then you pull the centre wood gently up and out from under the ashtray and you can get access to the gear selector area- it's at the 'P' end of the selector, you'll see a black wire going to that end and a sheath- the bulb is in there on the end of the wire and just pulls out. This bulb is a pet peev of mine and had gone out on both my 124 cars when I got them.

If you get the Haynes 124 manual it shows you how to take apart the dash bits- it's all pretty much common-sense screwed together.

Mine is a uk model Right Hand Drive with no airbag(s).
I tend to wear a cushion on my head, just in case you know. ;-)
The thing with the radio is: I had it at Halfords as I wanted to install a MP3 playing player. After about 1 hour the Halford guy, after trying all his "Steal a radio kit" decided that the radio must be factory installed. Did they have cd players for the car in 1992??.
I will try the under the ashtray thing and have a good look when I take off the front dash panel.
Thanks again
Adrian

I think you could get a Merc CD changer for the '92 model, I had a 300E with all the toys when I was living in the states and the radio/cassette was a pain in the arse to get out of that, and all the wiring was back to front.
I'd take it to a specialist car radio fitter rather than halfords as they've probably done mercs before.
