I'm travelling in a couple of days to pick up a 1995 E320 (W124) - my first Merc. I've yet to inspect the car. One area of concern is the jacking points which, I've been assured, are rust-free. But it doesn't hurt to check, does it?

On all the cars I've test-driven, I've been unable to remove the jacking point trims/covers to have a look. Do I need a tool or stronger fingernails?

Thanks.

My memory may be failing me but if they're like the W210 - the jack has a horizontal bar that slips into a tube through the chassis member for the jacking point - then the covers are removed by pushing one side in, tilting the cover so that it can be grabbed and pulled out. I recall that there was a little triangle embossed on the cover showing where to push it.
