I replaced the hard top on my sl280 at the end of the summer but it did not fully locate and now cannot be removed. The switch lights up and appears to be trying to unlock. the garage have tried disconecting the battery-to no avail and say there is not a mechanical way to remove the top. Please help-any suggestions will be gratefully received!!

Being a mere oldish lady I do not know the answer to your quetion.! The car was registered in 1998 as a SL 280 AUTO CONVERTIBLE.I would really be very grateful for any suggestions. thank you

In the tool kit there is a flat metal blade with a hexagon key on it, remove the plugs in the head rail and release the two hydraulic locks half a turn and do the same with the two rear ones accessed from the top corners in the boot.
If when fitting the roof it does not go on square and level,they can jam.
