I have the same gearbox, what are the main reasons for these failures? Was there a manufacturing problem, servicing issues or just the way it's been driven?

Common failure points are the ECU for the gearbox and the valve body. The odd seal may fail, but that is less common, and very easy to spot. They are the main culprits, however failure rates are not as bad as the forums make it out.

As long as the gearbox is serviced as per the schedule and the correct oil level is maintained there should be no problems.

Don’t worry about, just service and enjoy.

^ as he said- remember we only hear the failures on forums generally, most of us don’t post “I had great gear changes today, no ECU or valve body issues yet again”
