JP Marques - Near Aylesbury - Recommendations ?

Can anyone give a recommendation for servicing and repair at JP Marques in Aston Clinton, near Aylesbury.
http://www.jpmarques.co.uk/servicing.asp

Car is stranded near there and won't start, and was towed to a nearby garage who seem unable or unwilling to work on it. If they don't come up with something this morning, we'll have to get it towed again !!

Talked briefly to the service manager at JP Marques who seemed pretty knowledgable about Mercedes. Anyone any experience ?

Thanks.

i popped in there today - and they seemed very knowledgeable... and i was reccommended them by a stranger in a C class (202) yesterday....

Ive booked mine in...

I have a tow-rod (proper RAC type - not the rubbish halfiords thing) and live in Tring (about 5 miles away) - and could help if you are desparate... :)

Thanks for the info.
We're giving these guys until 3.30 today to get to work on the car, or then the plan would be to get it down to JP Marques. Thanks for the offer of the tow bar, but the garage where the car is currently located is at the bottom of a very steep hill with several speed bumps on it. Had thought of towing out of there with my BMW 525 and a tow rope, but I'm not sure my clutch would thank me.

Have to coordinate with my girlfriend as it's her car and she works nearby in Aston Clinton. She has my car today and I'm stranded here 30 miles away.

Good to hear the recommendation for JP Marques though. I know their labour rate is £50 and hour, which comperes very favourable with Merc dealer in Aylesbury at £93 !!!

Thanks for the help guydewdney. Picked car up finally this afternoon. Fuel pump relay was the cause of all the problems. It just took these guys almost 5 days to get it sorted.

Let me know what you think once you have had some work done Guy. Always good to know more recommendations in case of needing a backup mechanic.

hmmm.

picked the car up today... the paint on the LHS is fine. the bumpers look bad, and tehy havent doen the boot lid or the RHS touchup.

they havent sorted the leaking exhaust (as far as i can tell - its very slight) nor the parking sensors...

The service manager is out - and will be calling me later this afternoon to sort it out... I havent paid them :) but i did pay for the service (170 quid)

well - good news - i took it back - they fell over themselves with apologies - and have now sorted it out.

they even sorted a bit of rust  round the right hand indicator - as a freebie.

They are now doing a TVR for me - some fairly major scratches for 220 quid.

All in all I'm happy - the only thing they didnt sort was the parking sensors - they tried - but the system aparantly came up with no errors - so im booked in with someone else to get it diagnosed...

7/10 to be honest - they SEEM to know cars - and merc particuarly - but were flummoxed by my parking sensors not working - they said 'no errors come up on the star system' - which i find hard to believe...

Seem to be old hands at it though.

Like the garage I went to for some work on my Girlfriend's car. I quote "All mod cons here sir, apart from the staff"!

Was it a generic service, or specifically to the MB schedule?

Servicing and bodywork in Oxfordshire

This is turning into a (useful, to me at any rate) thread about good garages in Oxon and Bucks. I live about 20 miles west of oxford and am turning my mind to what garage I will use for doing a few specialist jobs on my 500 SL , including some minor bodywork.

I have heard good reports of the New Barn garage in Charlbury and (for bodywork) Hightone Restorations in Enstone . I'd prefer not to have to go to Birmingham or Perry Bar .

Has anyone got any experience of the above two firms and/or any other recommendations? It's better to think ahead in case of urgent need!
