I have just started having the following problem with my e class 320 cdi. 2000 102,000 on the clock.
When acclereating in top gear from 70\80 mph the car starts to judders, if I use kick down at these speeds then it accelerates with out juddering, I have searched through the forum and it shows that it could be the air filter, fuel filter, MAF or an injector.
Has anyone had a similar problem and have they found a cure for the problem.
Thanks for any help.

hi there, is the juddering associated with any noticable power loss, is it associated with gear changes? is it felt through the body of the car or steering wheel?

lots of possibilities including drive train or suspension faults, and don`t rule out the KUB in the torque convertor!

Hi
Thanks for all of the replies, mine is the 210 and the judder is felt by the driver and the passenger, I haven't changed the gear box oil and dont know if it has ever been changed, the judder does seem to affect the acceleration it doesnt lose power but in the same way it does stop you going faster, unless it kicks down to 4th and then it powers through the problem, could you let me know what a valeo is? Thanks again.

Most common fault for that engine is a set of leads breaking down, a short test should show you what number is at fault!

If the injectors havn't been changed already my guess is that it is one or more injectors. Mine required replacing at 60K and the symptoms were a very lumpy tickover but they are a known weakpoint on the CDi engine. My advice would be to take the car to a Bosch diesel specialist and have the injectors bench tested. The diesel specialists claim that the injectors are good for circa 120K so you are approaching that mileage. Recon injectors are circa £125 each.

Thanks, I will see if there is a good diesel\Bosch company near me in either Grimsby or Lincoln, and have them check them for me, If any one can point me towards a good cheap supplier of these injectors it would be appreciated.
Thanks again:)

i would avoid cheap injectors, only use bosch or bosch certified recon. HOWEVER, you will likely be told that all 6x need reconditioning if tested (i am a world weary cynic) and £1000 later could be no nearer the cause of the juddering.

you really need the car diagnosing as a whole, eg connecting das computer and carrying out roadtest (with assistant as directed by das, naturally!) and checking live data etc to see if engine missfire really does co-incide with the juddering you report. this symptom is not typical of injector faults on cid engines.

Smart + others :)
I would think torque convertor/rad problem. rare on a 210 but not unknown. connect to a star to be sure and isolate lock up clutch.

Took it MB they gave it a free check over took them over an hour they say that it is probably the motor in the inlet manifold as the cable has snapped, not sure what that means but they say worse case cost nearly £1000 !!!!! also it has a slight diesel leak at the plastic pipes by the fuel pump. The next day the pulley broke off (see post which pully broke off), I wish they had advised me of that!!! I will also say I havent had the judder sorted yet due to the car being off the road with the sheared pulley problem:(
