Hello, has anyone bought a jump starter they are happy with?

My 5 year old lead acid models battery has lost its enthusiasm.

I can put a new battery in it but maybe it's time to get up to date.

Now I see newer slimmer smaller ones with more modern battery tech, I may need to start up to a 4 litre diesel from dead so I would like some umph!
Are they up to the job?
Thank you in anticipation.

You need the big lead acid ones I think, the little ones are only good up to 2 litre.

Thanks, more confusion for me, the little rascals sellers have you thinking they will jump start big diesel lumps with ease with their polymers and lithium watch batteries.

I will admit, I know through experience. One of the big red lead-acid lumps from Halfrauds will start my M113 5.0 for about 3-4 turns of the key. It will also start the OM642 3.0 diesel for 5-6 turns.

I tried a flat pack LI-On jump pack on a totally dead X Trsil with 2.2 diesel. Started it with 5-6 turns of the key in reserve. I tried it with the OM642 and it didn’t have enough juice to crank.

Thank you real-world experience is what I need.

Apparently, they won't start a totally dead battery they need 2 volts at least.

Bought a load of tosh out of laziness.

It's a Costco Cat branded special that refuses to charge up fully, I happened to be in there and I shoved it in the trolley.

What surprised me is how many good reviews it gets.

It's the 1200 something or other uprated model.

To start, charge for 40 hours in the instructions !!

After each use, it needs recharging and that can be days, so considering it is labeled a professional model all I can say is don't get too many breakdowns.

Hewn from Yoghurt pots and assembled in Vietnam or somewhere, entirely my own fault no one made me buy it.

I shall return it when I go next week, one of the benefits of Costco.
