Hi i am interested in a c220 cdi coupe. It has done 64000 on the clock. I was told i would prob need to change the turbo when it hits 70k. What problems might i start running into with this car. I need some advice quickly. Thanks

Not sure about the turbo problem. Is it a C Coupe, or the new CLC? I have a new 180 petrol CLC Sports Auto and can confirm that it is a brilliant car. It's done less than 1000 miles, but is getting better every day. :)

A turbo is a item that might last 25000 miles or 150000, there is no "sell by date" on them,

Turbo should last if car is taken care of.

After driving the car, one should allow the turbo to cool, maybe idle for 30secs-60secs after driving and when getting closer to home take it easy to aid its cooling.

But as Mr Unit says, some give up the ghost early, others last.

Welcome to the Forum.

"I was told" could have been on general principle, or did the person (vendor?) have a reason for anticipating the early/soon demise of this turbocharger?

I have had a number of turbocharged cars and, although I appreciate the theoretical merits of letting them cool down towards the end of a journey, have never given any of them special treatment. And I have never lost one yet.

If this turbo is OK at present, then it will probably be OK for a long time to come. 64,000 is a modest mileage.
