I have just joined I own a 1979 Campervan and like most on here is underpowered, but considering the weight of its fittings it is not surprising, I'm thinking about buying a bigger one Mercedes obviously, I own a Sprinter which I love and would say that they must make an ideal Campervan as they have the best of both worlds. I have had running problems with the Campervan which is rare for these engines, I have changed everything fuel chasing my tail if you put your foot flat to the floor the revs will wander up and down and eventually stop, I have changed the fuel tank and all the lines, I have found that the lift pump flange where it bolts to the engine is snapped through with a diesel weep to boot, this is my last port of call, I have given up using so called mechanics, the reason this has happened to the pump is that no washers or gasket was used when fitted, so it is going to cost me another pump if I can find one.
