I was in the car wash yesterday in my 2010 Ml350 and went to restart the engine and nothing. I turned it off as we were inside and I didn't want to gas the cleaning lads.

The carwash owner was fuming as I had 7 or 8 cars stuck behind me and he had to reroute the wash after getting them to back out onto a main road.
After about 30 mins I had the spare key turn up and we were away.

I have changed the battery and I am getting a red light on every button push and a beam from the end when checked with a camera . I have tried every method I can find on the internet to reprogram/ synchronise it to the car with no luck. The Stealer wants £187 + vat (1 hours labour) to reprogram the key and warned me it might be a new key if its faulty.

It is a standard 3 button fob (no Blade) with the emergency door key blade in the top.

The fob turns to position 2 but will not start the engine.

Has anyone got any suggestions how to remedy the problem or fix the fault opposed to giving the stealer loads of money .

I am in the North East so if anyone knows of any company that might help it would be appreciated.

I drove off one day in aclass spare key on windscreen base. Key fell off. Hit floor, no apparent damage. Never worked again, same story £200. Stealer a gamble as fees even if no result. So I bit the bullet. There are some companies that offer repair. I never travel without both keys. Too much of a drama.

Bit of a trek from the NE to Birmingham.
I thought of that too but given the fuel to get there and back it's probably cheaper at the stealer.

Rather than get the key reprogrammed it may be more sensible just to get a new one off the bat as at least it's a fixed known cost.

With an Audi my daughter owned the other year we used a mobile auto locksmith who produced a new key programmed to the car on the drive for about £140 and in around 40mins... when the dealer needed the car taking to them and something over £200.

Trouble is, one can’t do that with MB keys :(

What not in any circumstance? Must admit not had to get a second MB one so far so assumed one of the proper mobile guys could. What is it a factory order with V5 and ID proof shown to dealer.

I think I now have resolved it . Having a guy visit tomorrow supplying new key and programming for £150.

Hopefully this will cure the problem and I will be back to two keys.

Thanks for the help.

That sounds good value. Will you post details tomorrow if you are pleased with the job.
Gladly as long as I am not breaching the forum rules in naming the company. Admin please confirm as I dont want to annoy your sponsors.

Be careful.
I tried that for replacement r230 keys and they bollocksed it up royally - used all the normally available key tracks in the ISM and still didn't get it to work.

Luckily a trip to RMK managed to sort it out.

You can, but only if the new key has never been programmed.
That's what RMK do.
Oh! Well one lives and learns, I thought the car had to be taken to them. Good to know!
