Hi guys,
Apologies for posting here and the long post. However I'm hoping this is the best place to ask for advice.
I have an Infiniti key fob, although it is a rebadged Mercedes key fob and I am having a strange issue.
It originally started by a warning on the instrument cluster with "change key fob battery". So I fitted a new battery, no more message and all was good.
A week passed by and the message "change key fob battery" re-appeared. I did fit a budget battery and thought okay, maybe the battery isn't very good. I then fitted another one of these budget batteries and again, no message, all was good.
Approximately another week passed and this time the key just stopped working. The vehicle has keyless entry, and by trying to open the door as usual, the vehicle stayed locked. Tried pressing the buttons on the fob, nothing seemed to work. Got the spare key. all worked fine.
This time I fitted a new Duracell battery, rather than the cheap budget brand I had before. As maybe these budget batteries were just poor quality. New Duracell battery installed, key started working again as normal. This time probably around 2 hours had passed, and key stopped responding again. Trying to open the door handle, vehicle stayed locked, tried pressing buttons again. and nothing was happening. Went back to the spare key again, and all was working again.
Hopefully someone is able to help me or provide some light on the issue. I really would appreciate any help.
I've added an image below on what the Infiniti key look like alongside a Mercedes key. Thanks
