Hi, I used the car (C220 CDI 2002) yesterday morning but half hour later key fob and spare would not operate doors or ignition, I had to call out MB they did a battery reset (car) and then all worked ok, but they say it was an ignition switch prob and I need to take in, but I'm not sure, surely the door locks have nothing to do with ignition, any advise before I run up huge bill, Cheers Barry.

mmmm, could be a sam problem as the ignition switch (eis unit) is controlled by this unit. i think i woul suck it & see it might have been just a glitch. worth having your car battery checked though because low batt voltage would cause this very problem.

HI

Ignition switch is most likley cause after faulty key as both your keys didn't work that leaves the EIS (electronic ignition switch) if this unit goes faulty there is very little that does work on the car as this is the only gateway between interior CAN and chassis CAN
