I guess this has been covered before but I couldnt see where. I have aquired 2 remote locking key fobs from a 97 c class that has been scrapped. I have a 97 e class and only 1 key fob. The fobs I have obtained are identical to the one I use on my car. What I would like to do is get the 2 from the c class reprogrammed to work with my car and then go to my Merc dealer and get 2 new key blades ordered from Germany. Sounds like a good plan, is it possible? Surely there must be some legit company that can do this sort of work. When I asked my local merc garage (not the dealer) I got the traditional sucking air through teeth noise and a shake of the head. Is there anyone out there in Merc land that can help?

Cheers

If I recall correctly the newer type DAS electronic keys are NOT transferable from vehicle to vehicle, they are coded at manufacture to the vehicle's VIN. Infact I'm sure I read somewhere that a car can only have up to a max of 8 keys in its lifetime.

Bugger! Oh well it sounds like the dealer will be getting another large chunk of cash for something worth a couple of quid. I thought it all sounded too easy. Thanks for the reply though.
