Key Fob

I've searched everywhere and cant find an answer.

I have a 2005 E320.

I've changed the batteries but I need to re-sync the key? The Key Fob will not open and lock the doors.

What is really frustrating me is that I cannot turn over the ignition. For 2 days now I kept playing with it and finally found a solution which is really confusing the hell out of me. I read somewhere that the Key fob doesnt need batteries to start the car. So what I did was I removed the batteries of the Key Fob and was able to turnover without the batteries inside it. I can turn over the ignition everytime now but when the battery is in place, ignition will not turnover at all!

What do I need to do to re-sync it? Since the ignition will not turnover when the batteries are in the Key Fob, should I first insert the key in the ignition with out the batteries? and than when it is turned, insert the battery casing?

Also what is the procedure to sync my key fob?

This is no re sync for these DAS11 and 111 keys. There are 2 separate functions in the key.

The red led flashes when the lockimng buttons are used,if pointed at a digital camera you can see the IR beam.

If the key will not turn when the batteries are in the fob, then there is a short circuit within the key

Interesting. So theres no need to re-sync the key? How about the keyless go function?

Anyway I wanted to add that I took the key back to the battery store and asked them to test the battery. They tested the battery and they said that the battery got drained. Not sure why that is but the batteries were only 2 days old. Also when I first put in the battery, it locked/unlocked the doors fine for a few mins than that was it. I have the new batteries on me but I'm still at work and I'll post an update later tonight.

Keyless go has nothing to do with this, on these there is a module on the car that sends a signal to the keyless go card when any button is pushed on the car.

On DAS keys, even if you had the batteries in backwards, this would not drain them as no current flows until a button is pushed, and they would soon recover. 1 battery in the wrong way and no current will flow. If the led flashes on the key, the batteries were in correctly

Do you have more than one card, the main ECU is in a side panel in the boot
