I appreciate all the help i have received from this forum so far.

If my key is not responding i.e the light comes on the key but it does not lock/unlock the doors. When the key is inserted in ignition nothing happens. Car battery must be ok because main front lights come on. The key does not even go to position 2, I cannot get passed the Steering lock. If the EIS was faulty will the steering lock still come of. Is it possible some fuse has blown. Please help, am really struggling. Thanks for the help so far.

Any suggestions are welcomed!

Thank you

I have spoken to a company who repairs EIS modules and they have told me that it does not sound like an EIS problem, also AA checked the key with some device and they said that it was sending a signal what ever that means. Thanks

it does sound like you have a faulty eis. If the eis was faulty it will not disable the steering lock. If you dont want to take it to a dealer it may be worth getting a spare key anyway they cost about £120 +vat at least then you rule out if it is the key and you will have a spare one. if you get the key and it does not work it will need an EIS which will have to be fitted by a dealer or a good indy.

hi,

Where can i buy a key for that price from... Dealers said over £200 for the key. Also, how much will the EIS module cost. If i get a diagnostic check done will it show the fault.

Thank you

we get all our parts from the local dealer and just for the remote key should be no more than £120+vat unless they have had a price rise in the last week (i will check on monday) you may need to buy a new key blade as they have changed the style of key but these are £20+vat. Eis cost about £330 +vat and fitting which would only be about 1hour this will include coding the unit. the dealer or good indy should be able to check the actual value of the eis and tell if the key is reading or if the eis is not sending a signal. (just as a second thought the steering lock can sometimes play up that will stop the eis from turning but wont stop the central locking from working.)
