Here I am thinking just solved a problem with very minor effort and cost and before I can raise a smile another re-occurence of an old problem!
I had a rust warranty claim successfully sorted with much pleasure for the way it was conducted and at the time my W203 was having a key recognition problem which seemed to be connected to the tailgate being opended before the key was put in ignition.
When I took my car in for the rust problem I told the body shop what was happening and as I'd just got my stuff out the back it had malfunctioned again.I told them just lock it with the fob and wait 10 mins and it re-sets itself and you can unlock it and the key will be ok.
I've had the car back about 3 months since they did the bodywork and this fault has not occured once no matter what I did before putting key in ignition.
Yesterday morning I went to buy the foot parking brake ratchet part and when I returned to my car, parked in dealer car park,it did this same problem again!
I genuinely thought the body shop must of fixed it as it was doing it all the time before, but maybe not. There is a click sound from the boot on the passenger side where the electrics are so am wondering if the problem lies in there.I know the alarm will be a dealer issue but has anyone experienced this?
