I have a 2000 s-class 420. I am unbale to aopen doors unless i use the key. then the key will not tun in the ignition. I have tried to reset useing the process in the handbook. this makes no difference. the central locking works as normal. It seems that the immobiliser is activated and i am therefore unable to start. Any Ideas?

The key will not turn if it is not recognized by the alarm circuits (EIS)

Help! I just googled this problem s my car got stuck in an underground car park ysterday. Mybe smeone an advise before he dealership opens tomorrow and cargesme for the eair. The car orked fine, a cuple of weeks after an injector and suspension fix. Remotely unlocked the car, turned on the radio but then put the key in and noting, the usual sound that you get when you put the key in did not hapn. I tried going through the routine a few times, put in new batteries into the remote, tried disconnecting the car battery for 5 minutes, tried someone else's key. Nothing.

It is a 2001 Mercedes E270 manual, 100,000 miles on the clock. I love it, but not in the last 3 months.

I hadit towed to the mechanic's. Today isa bank holida hre soI havea few hours to research the problem, and you guys seem most relevent.

Hello and welcome to the forum, This could be the key or the EIS switch. if the key turned in the ignition switch then is the battery OK on the car, as this could do it
